Local Quartets: Good Intentions
|
Happy Holidays! A great time of the year for Barbershopping! Wasn't that a great show on Saturday night? I certainly enjoyed it, and a couple that I met today (Sunday) at Canadian Tire, said they really enjoyed it too. However, they wondered whether we were available at other times of the year, other than at church. They mentioned that they had heard that we will be singing at the hospitals tomorrow, but that the inmates (patients?) had already seen four groups during this last week, with more scheduled for this next week. Could we do it on a dreary February night? Interesting idea, that. Upcoming Events: Hospital Singout: December 15, 2003 When: Meet in the Superior Room, Plummer hospital, at 6:15 Enter at centre, turn west toward the cafeteria, keep going until you see the Superior room on your left. Attire: white shirt, red sweater, black pants, no tie Bring: Christmas music books, Little Toy Trains. Note: Don't worry about parking, Doug will arrange for our parking to be free. Park in the hospital parking lot.

======================================================================================== It is with regret that I have to report that Richard Evans is also leaving us. He wrote me a note last week, saying that he hopes that he will be able to join us sometime in the future. All of our wishes go with you, Richard. As well, Bob told us last week that George Nippers is finding the long drive to the Sault a burden, and we can all sympathize with that. It takes a special kind of person to keep that sort of commitment up, year after year. Our fellow barbershoppers that are able to do it have my deep respect. Hopefully they will join us whenever they can. =========================================================================================
It actually looks like I can get something out of the camera memory card now. My card reader has been rather erratic, and my hard drive has been attacked twice in the last month. Sorry I've been remiss about getting these out:
A great rehearsal, and we welcome Ray Trouve into Barbershopping, November 10, 2003.
Doug and Don getting prepared Ray Trouve is welcomed by Jim Lake More of the chorus welcome Ray into our greatest fraternity.
Then on November 24, we had a powerhouse warmup and quartet, then quintet, then sextet teach:
First our terrific warmup man, Wes The first quartet gets us started Then a quintet worked on a halftime song
first the quintet gets us started Then a prospective member joins finally, the sextet carries on
============================================================================================ That's it for this one. I'm going to post just a page of pictures, and then arrange with Ian to add them to the web site as well. Take a
look at the latest from Reed Samson, in his newsletter "LIVEWIRE". If you
